Former India captain and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly gave his approval to ex-India top-order batter Gautam Gambhir being the possible next head coach of the Indian men's cricket team. The debate around the next Indian head coach has kicked started since it was confirmed that the current coach Rahul Dravid's tenure will end after the T20 World Cup 2024.

Since this development several names have emerged as possible candidates for the next head coach among which Gautam Gambhir's name received a lot of backing from experts and fans alike. Further, there have been reports about Gambhir being the favourite to take up the head coaching also surfaced.

Ganguly believes  Gambhir  will be a good coach for India

Sourav Ganguly was asked about his thoughts on this debate at inauguration of the International Procurement and Supply Chain Conference. At this event, Ganguly, was quoted saying,  "I am in favour of an Indian coach. If he has applied, Gambhir will be a good coach," by India Today.

Jay Shah on next Indian head coach

A few days ago, BCCI secretary Jay Shah also hinted that an Indian coach would be board's first choice.  "Finding the right coach for our national team is a meticulous and thorough process. We are focused on identifying individuals who possess a deep understanding of the Indian cricket structure and have risen through the ranks," Shah said.
