BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has confirmed his participation in the Charity Fundraising game, which will mark the 75th Independence Day of India. The event is called as 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' campaign. Earlier this month, the central government asked the BCCI to organize a match between India XI and the Rest of the World XI on August 22.

Ganguly took to Instagram on Friday to share his workout pictures, in a bid to prepare for the charity game. Dada added that he will soon start his batting practice as well.

The fans have expressed their excitement after the announcement of the same development. At the time of writing, the photo has amassed more than 42,000 likes and over 250 comments.

Earlier, the sources in the BCCI reckoned that a lot of operational and logistical issues will be faced, to procure the services of the key international players. This is due to the packed schedule, with The Hundred being slated to be played during the same time. Furthermore, the inaugural edition of the 6ixty will take place during the same week, and Caribbean Premier League will also start on August 30. The players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant, who are not expected to tour Zimbabwe can be seen participating in the tournament.

“We have received a proposal from the government to organise a cricket match between India XI and World XI on August 22. For the rest of the world squad, we would need at least 13-14 international players and their availability is something that we need to check on, a source had said in the second week of July.

Apart from Cricket, Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav will include the events like Mentorship to Young Authors program, a digital photography contest, and a Quiz on 75 Years of India’s Freedom
