Reigning champions Chennai Super Kings had a rough day as they registered their second defeat of the season. The team under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad visited Hyderabad to clash against SunRisers Hyderabad on April 5, Friday. Earlier during the day, Hyderabad skipper won the toss and invited their rivals to bat first.

The hosts got wickets in quick successes in the form of Rachin Ravindra when Aiden Markram caught out the all-rounder over a Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s delivery. The youngster playing his first IPL was forced to walk back after a small score of 12 runs. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was the next to depart after a Shahbaz Ahmed delivery caught him out in the eighth over. The next few wickets came in quick succession for the Orange Army.

However, Shivam Dube played a decent knock of 45 runs in 24 deliveries to give the side much-needed stability, but narrowly missed his half-century. Former captain MS Dhoni and senior all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja remained not out for 1 and 31 runs respectively. They gave a target of 166 runs for the hosts to chase and win the game.

After a brilliant show by the ball, Pat Cummins and Co. continued their dominance in the second innings as well. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma took control and gave the side a significant start. After CSK failed to impress with the bat, they seemed to have surrendered to the SRH batters as well.

The Pat Cummins-led side put in combined efforts to guide the side to a brilliant six-wicket win over their counterparts at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
