The second Test between Sri Lanka and Pakistan has been shifted from Colombo to Galle, following ongoing unrest in the country. Sri Lanka Cricket board announced that the mutual decision has been taken to ease out the logistical challenges of the tour-related operation amidst massive protest in the country.

Notably, the ongoing first Test in Galle between both the team has been a smooth process so far and there has been no interference from the protestors. Earlier, the second Test was scheduled to take place in Colombo, but local reports suggested possibility of political demonstration due to which the venue has been changed now.

According to reports, due to the ongoing Sri Lanka protest, the large number of people who have come out on Colombo's streets may create chaos and the massive traffic expected on road which can pose serious logistical challenge for the 2nd Test. The first Test is currently being played in Galle, and the squads will remain at the venue for the second Test as well.

Earlier, source-based reports claimed that Pakistan Cricket Board is closely monitoring the situation in island nation and is constantly in touch with players and support staff amidst massive protest in the country. "We are in constant touch with SLC, players and support staff. We are keeping a close watch on situation and will take necessary steps if the situation arises," a source close to development was quoted.

Prior to Pakistan, Sri Lanka hosted Australia for multi-format series and despite of several protest in the country, the match-proceedings went smoothly. Galle, had previously seen a large protest on July 9, the day when Australia and Sri Lanka were playing the 2nd Test.

Speaking of ongoing 1st Test, the match has been a low scoring game so far as the hosts posted 222 despite Dinesh Chandimal's 76 off 115 deliveries in the first innings. In response, Pakistan batters failed miserably except skipper Babar Azam who played a fine knock to score his 7th hundred in Test cricket and rescued his side from the collapse. Prabath Jayasuriya picked five-wickets in the game to put Sri Lanka in commanding position.
