Sri Lankan sports minister Harin Fernando announced the revocation of the sacking of the country’s cricket board over allegations of corruption on December 12. The decision has been taken by the Lankan sports minister to end the suspension of Sri Lankan Cricket by the International Cricket Council.

The development was confirmed on X, formerly known as Twitter where the Sri Lankan sports minister Fernando posted that he has signed a gazette to revoke the decision appointing an interim committee for Sri Lanka Cricket. Fernando further shared he wants the ICC to share its “observations” on an audit report into alleged corruption by the board during the T20 World Cup last year in Australia.
Fernando wrote, "Today, I signed a gazette to revoke the decision appointing an interim committee for Sri Lanka Cricket, aiming to lift our ICC suspension. I've also written to the ICC, seeking their observations on the Auditor General's report on SLC, and to the AG dept for future actions."

Roshan Ranasinghe, Sports Minister before Harin Fernando, sacked the elected board in November and appointed an interim panel headed by 1996 World Cup-winning captain Arjuna Ranatunga. The ICC suspended the Sri Lankan board stating that it failed to prevent political interference in the administration of the game. The controversy over corruption in the board, led to the sacking of Ranasinghe late last month.
