The Ghana - Uruguay FIFA World Cup 2022 fixture has been full of drama and emotion with one man taking centre stage. Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez continued to haunt the Black Stars as they missed an early penalty. Then conceded two goals in a space of six minutes thanks to Suarez’s assists.
The former Barcelona frontman has an infamous history with the African nation as he was single-handedly responsible for their quarter-final exit in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. In the dying moments of the game, Suarez used his hand to block away the winning Ghanian goal and received a red card for his actions.
The Black Stars won a penalty but Asamoah Gyan missed it, leading to Ghana’s eventual loss. But coming back to the game, football fans on the internet have gone extremely crazy as they have flooded social media with reactions, comments and memes regarding Suarez and Ghana.
