England speedster Mark Wood has reportedly suffered an injury scare ahead of the team's ICC Men's T20 World Cup semifinal against India at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday. While star batter Dawid Malan is already expected to miss the knockout game after suffering a groin injury while fielding in the team's last Super 12 fixture against Sri Lanka, Wood's injury causes fresh concerns for the management.

A report carried by Sky Sports confirms that the 32-year-old speedster seemingly experienced some discomfort while jogging during a training session at the venue on Tuesday and pulled out of the full-fledged training session. However, the same report has stated that Wood pulling out was a precautionary measure as the Three Lions have confirmed that it was nothing but a case of general body fitness.

Notably, Wood is known for clocking express pace which could be critical to extract extra bounce in much drier conditions now in Adelaide. However, in case Wood misses out, Tymal Mills could get the not in the Playing 11 with the Sussex cricketer also capable of bowling at a rapid pace.

It would be a tough ask for anyone to fill the shoes of Wood who has been sensational in the tournament so far, having scalped 9 wickets in 4 matches at an average of 12.00 and an economy of 7.71. Wood had returned to action after undergoing two operations on his right elbow and has been the fastest bowler in the tournament.

Earlier in the day, India captain Rohit Sharma too got hit on his right forearm and felt some pain immediately after he received a blow while taking throwdowns. However, after staying out for a period of 30-45 minutes, the Hitman resumed training and flashed a thumbs up when a reporter asked him if he was okay which suggests he will walk out for the toss along with Jos Buttler on November 10.
