As per the latest reports, Mukesh Choudhary and Chetan Sakariya are set to  travel with Team India  to Australia on October 6 for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. They are the possible backup players and net bowlers who could be added in the squad after uncertainty  of several players, including Jasprit Bumrah.

Earlier there were reports of Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik also travelling to Australia for the marquee event. However, nothing concrete has come from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Notably, Bumrah complained of back pain ahead of the 1st T20I against South Africa on Wednesday (September 28) at Thiruvananthapuram and was ruled out of the series opener. Later, he was ruled out of the South Africa tour after it was confirmed that he has suffered a back stress fracture. However, there is no further update on his injury and Mohammed Siraj has been added as his replacement for the T20I series against South Africa.

On the other hand, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly made a strong statement and addressed that Bumrah is not yet ruled out of the T20 World Cup.

Talking about Team India’s recent performance against South Africa, The Men in Blue registered another dominating performance in the second T20I on Sunday (2 October). Suryakumar Yadav’s 61 off 22 deliveries and vice-captain KL Rahul’s 57 off 28 balls helped the side set 237/3 on the board. David Miller’s well-made 106* went in vain as they failed to chase the target with 37 runs left off last over.

With this win, Rohit Sharma-led Team India clinched another T20I series with a match to go. The two teams will next face each other on October 4 at the Holkar Stadium, Indore.
