Preview:

The Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates will lock horns for the second game of Group A at the Simonds Stadium in Geelong. Both the teams haven’t had the best records before the start of the World Cup and hence would hope for a fresh start in the marquee tournament. Both teams have played each a few times in the past where UAE has a 4-1 record over the Dutch in the last five games.

Pitch Report:

The pitch at the Simonds Stadium is slated to be a flat wicket where the batters would have a slight advantage. The average T20 score on the ground has been 160, hence the par score here could be between 165-170.

United Arab Emirates:

The UAE team haven’t had the best preparations for the World Cup as they have lost four out of their five games. In their last fixture, the Emirates team had a great performance against the West Indies. They restricted the Windies to 157 but failed to chase down this modest total. No one other than Waseem Muhammad and Zawar Farid managed to score in the double-digits.

Netherlands:

The Dutch also have had a similar run of form ahead of the marquee tournament where they have won just two out of their last five games. The Netherlands lost to Scotland by 18 runs as they failed to chase the target of 152 runs. The top-order played extremely well but the middle order failed to recreate that success.

Conclusion:

Despite both teams seeming to be on a similar pedestal, the Netherlands is looking like the favourites to take the victory against UAE as they have a more well-rounded team with star players in each department.
