The Indian Premier League’s inaugural season champions and last year’s finalists, Rajasthan Royals are now dependent on others and luck to make it to the top four of this season. The 2008 champions started off their season with a bang, but what followed was unexpected and the Royals had a very on and off tournament. The team is currently seated on the fifth spot, with 14 points from seven wins out of 14 matches. As the Sanju Samson-led side is entirely dependent on other teams to make it to the playoffs, RR player Ravichandran Ashwin posted a hilarious story ahead of the MI vs SRH clash.
Notably, the SunRisers Hyderabad are taking on the record-time IPL winners on May 21, and Ashwin, on his Instagram account, posted a picture of himself with SRH coach Muralitharan, and wrote that all the tactics have been conveyed and now it is up to the Orange Army to execute them, seemingly asking the team to take down the record-time winners. He wrote, “Tactics conveyed! Now it’s up to him and our beloved SunRisers Hyderabad to just execute.”
Notably, if Rajasthan Royals wish to make it to the playoffs of the IPL 2023, then SunRisers Hyderabad need to defeat Mumbai Indians, and Gujarat Titans need to beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by at least six or more runs on May 21, Sunday. The net run rate of Mumbai Indians is negative, which is why their loss against SRH will help RR.
Notably, Rajasthan Royals ended their 14-match league campaign in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League 2023 with a win over Punjab Kings on May 19. As of now, Gujarat Titans, Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants have secured their berths in the playoffs for the season. With one more spot remaining and three teams competing, it will be interesting to see which team joins the aforementioned teams in the top four.
