India have become the number one T20I team in ICC rankings after completing a clean sweep in the 3-match T20I series against West Indies on Sunday. Rohit Sharma-led side delivered an all-round performance in the final match of the series, defeating visitors by 17 runs, courtesy blistering knocks from Suryakumar Yadav (65 off 31) and Venkatesh Iyer (35 off 19) followed by collective bowling performance.

The two middle-order batsmen added 91 runs together after the team suffered few early blows in the form of Ruturaj Gaikwad (4 of 8), Ishan Kishan (34 off 31), Shreyas Iyer (25 off 16) and skipper Rohit Sharma (7 off 15). Both the batters stood tall in front of the disciplined bowling attack of the visitors and left them clueless with their power-hitting all over the park.

While chasing the total, West Indies suffered an early blow in form of Kyle Mayers (6 of 5) in the 1st over, which was followed by wickets falling at regular intervals. Although Nicholas Pooran (61 off 47), along with Rovman Powell (25 off 14) and later with Romario Shepherd (29 off 21), made a valiant effort to register West Indies' maiden win in the tour, but it was just not enough.

The Indian bowlers had the last laugh as Harshal Patel's 3-wicket haul and a couple of wickets each from Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur and Venkatesh Iyer put hosts in a commanding position, sealing an impressive win for India. Notably, Venkatesh Iyer emerged as standout performer for Team India with his all-around performance from bat and bowl. He scored blistering 35 off 19 in 1st innings and clinched two crucial wickets later.

As expected, the fans went crazy on social media hailing Rohit Sharma and Co. as they went to top of the ICC rankings in T20Is. Meanwhile, everyone was also full of praise for Hitman who secured his 9th consecutive win as captain in limited-overs cricket.
