Team India is scheduled to tour to their neighbouring nation, Bangladesh in August 2025 for a white-ball series, consisting of three ODIs and as many T20Is. The white-ball series, which is scheduled to be played across two venues in Mirpur and Chattogram from August 17 till August 31, is now under threat seeing the cross-border tensions between the two nations.
It is to be noted that the recent Pahalgam terror attack has led to the tensions between India and Pakistan, with both countries taking several strict actions. On the other hand, a few conversations have escalated tensions between India and Bangladesh on the eastern side, and the latest might hamper the cricketing calendar in the sub-continent.
Team India unlikely to tour to Bangladesh amid cross-border tensions
The ongoing conflicts seeing a rise, sources close to the developments have confirmed that the Men in Blue might not tour Bangladesh for the upcoming white-ball series, thus hampering the cricket calendar. As per a statement quoted by The Times of India, “The tour is part of the calendar but nothing is final yet. There is a bright possibility of India not touring Bangladesh for the ODIs and T20Is because of the current situation.”
While the recent terror attacks in the Kashmir valley led to heated tensions between India and Pakistan, but a retired Bangladesh army officer’s comments has sparked a new controversy in the eastern part of the country. What hogged the eyeballs was the army veteran calling for a joint-military system with China, eyeing to occupy the seven eastern states of India.
Taking to Facebook, Major General (Retd.) ALM Fazlur Rahman wrote, “If India attacks Pakistan, bangladesh should occupy seven states of North-East India. In this regard, I think it is necessary to start a discussion on a joint-military system with China.”
