The Indian team emerged victorious in the first South Asian and Middle East international Counter Strike: Global Offensive tournament, Skyesports Souvenir 2023. Following their victory, the winners will now take home the prize pool of lion’s share of the $5,000 prize pool. The tournament took place from September 25 to 30, where six South Asian countries, including the likes of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, UAE and Nepal participated.
Team India and UAE participated in the best-of-three finale of the tournament, which was powered by AMD and Windows 11. The summit clash saw the finalists playing all three games to determine the ultimate champions. Out of the three rounds, the UAE team took an early lead in the first round; however, the Indians recorded a come-from-behind victory with a scoreline of 16-14.
In the second round, the UAE team recorded a 16-9 win, extending the finale for a decider. However, the match MVP, Garvit ‘EmbeR’ Nehra, ensured India’s win as they clinched a 19-16 win to take the trophy home. After the win, team India’s Parijat “reV3nnnn” Banerjee said, "Celebrating this victory is not just for the team but for all of India.
Banerjee added, “We’ve shown that Indian esports cannot be taken lightly. Today we lift the Skyesports Souvenir trophy for ourselves, for our supporters and our nation. I am proud to be part of God's Reign, and this triumph reaffirms our hard work and dedication. We’re just getting started!”
