The second Test match between Pakistan and New Zealand went down to the wire only to be called off by the on-field umpires due to unavailability of the natural light. Former Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed, who made a comeback in the national squad, smashed his maiden century on home soil, but could not take his side over the winning margin.

While chasing 319-runs, Pakistan had a topsy-turvy run chase as the top-order - Abdullah Shafique (0 off 2), Imam-ul-Haq (12 off 26) and Mir Hamza (0 off 9) - faltered way too early in the game. As Babar Azam and Shan Masood too could not make many contributions, Sarfaraz Ahmed took the onus on his shoulder and closed the gap with his valiant knock. He scored 118 off 176 deliveries with the help of one maximum and nine boundaries.

As Sarfaraz got dismissed in the 87th over of the match, it was Pakistan's speedster Naseem Shah and spinner Abrar Ahmed who batted brilliantly in the middle. Pakistan needed just 15 runs in four overs when umpires called off the game due to a lack of enough natural light on the field. The thriller invoked a lot of interesting reactions on social media as many cricket fans were quick to express their excitement.
