Indian fast bowler Ishant Sharma produced one of the greatest fast-bowling spells to defeat England in a historic victory at Lord ' s in 2014. Sharma had career-best figures of 7/74 as he ran through the English batting with a barrage of bouncers. Speaking about this incredible performance, Ishant has opened up about an important chat he had with then-Indian captain MS Dhoni.

Ishant Sharma spoke about how he and Dhoni were discussing opting to bowl short only if normal length bowling doesn’t work out. Sharma then revealed how Dhoni asked him whether he won't get tired to continue his spell for a longer time. Reacting to this, the pacer said that he will bowl till the end of the game, which also charged up Dhoni.

Sharma, while talking to Cricbuzz, said, “We were heading towards the dressing room when Mahi bhai told me to keep it normal. If nothing works, then we'll go back to bowling bouncers. I said fine. He asked me 'Thakega toh nahi?' (You won't get tired, right?) I said I will bowl as long as you want me to. I will bowl till the match doesn't get over. He too got charged up."

The Delhi Capitals seamer then spoke about how the coach of the Indian team Duncan Fletcher also asked him to slow down after hearing about bowling continuously from one end. But Sharma still insisted and stated that the team would need him to carry on a stretcher if he gets tired.

He said, “I insisted No. If I get tired, carry me out on a stretcher. I won't walk back till the game doesn't end. So hearing it he too felt how long can he bowl bouncers. Fine, his motivation and adrenaline are high right now. But how long can he go till? So I kept bowling. Well, it's a different thing that I got injured.”
