Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has recently revealed his main focus is to keep his physical fitness at the top level to ensure participation in the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023. The 36-year-old Indian batter also talked about the importance of mental health in every aspect of life.

Earlier, Dhawan was named the captain of the Indian side for the three-match ODI series against West Indies in July. Reportedly, Shikhar Dhawan is expected to lead Team India for the home series against South Africa, starting from September 28 as T20 World Cup-bound players are likely to be rested.

In an interview with Times  Now, Shikhar Dhawan talked about the importance of mental health and highlighted the need to stay in a positive surrounding. He said: "Mental health is a very important in every aspect of the life one should keep the right balance of mental and physical health. My only advice would be to surround yourself with positive thoughts and with positive people that will bring more positivity to your mental health. "

Further, Dhawan talked about his major area of focus to ensure his participation in the 2023 World Cup. " I make sure that if I keep my fitness on the top level and keep doing the work whether it’s focusing on skill work or fitness regime. And we are looking forward to the World Cup as well which definitely keeps driving me for more. 

"I feel grateful that my hard work and dedication has made me capable for this. It’s my love for sports and dedication for the game which keeps me focused, " Dhawan stated.
