Kane Williamson-led New Zealand pulled off a nail-biting win over Sri Lanka which helped the Indian Team qualify for their second consecutive World Test Championship final. Chasing 285 in the second innings, the Blackcaps on the back of a fighting Williamson ton scrapped their way to victory.

The Test match went right down to the wire as the Kiwis needed eight runs in the final over of the fifth day. After two singles on the first two balls, Matt Henry was run out as New Zealand were reduced to 280-8.  As Christchurch fell silent, Williamson smashed a stunning boundary to break the shackles.

With the win seemingly closer than ever, Asitha Fernando bowled a daring bouncer which ended as a dot ball. Then on the last ball, with 1 required off 1, the Kiwi captain missed a hook shot but ran to complete the run. Fernando, who charge to stop the ball, turned around to produce a direct hit. A diving Williamson looked distraught but soon was overjoyed after the third umpire deemed him not out.

Celebrating this thrilling encounter, cricket fans flooded social media praising New Zealand for once helping India reach an ICC final. Further, Kane Williamson also received a lot of compliments for his resilient century under pressure.
