Indian pacer Shanthakumaran Nair Sreesanth feels that Ravichandran Ashwin can be Team India's trump card at the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 if given the opportunity. Ashwin was a surprise inclusion in Team India’s 15-member T20 World Cup 2021 squad as he hadn’t played white-ball cricket for the country since 2017. But the Indian selectors picked Ashwin due to his good form in the IPL and his vast experience.

Sreesanth, who was a part of India's World Cup-winning side in the 2007 edition, believes that Ashwin can make a big impact on the slow and low pitches in the UAE. He also predicted that Ashwin could open the bowling for India, something which he did quite a lot when MS Dhoni was captain.

Speaking to Sportskeeda, the fast bowler said, “I totally believe in our bowling attack but I also feel that it is very important to try out Ashwin. I don’t know why Ashwin is not playing in a lot of matches. He is very good with his brains also. He is not just a cricketer with skill but also a well educated cricketer. He was just a normal cricketer who believed in his ability, gave it his all and he became who he is.”

Kohli opening innings with Rohit would be deadly for India: Sreesanth

Sreesanth further stated that captain Virat Kohli should open the innings with his deputy Rohit Sharma at the ICC World T20. He felt that the opening combination of Rohit and Kohli will be the deadliest thing in the World Cup 2021. Sreesanth said, "I think Virat Kohli should open the innings with Rohit Sharma. It will be like the deadliest thing. And Rahul should bat at No.3. Because it's T20I, Rishabh Pant can come at No.4."
