Indian sporting fraternity paid homage to martyrs on the 25th anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas on Friday, July 26. Indian cricketers and Olympic medalist Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore took to social media to pay their tributes to nation’s bravehearts who sacrificed their lives for the country in the Kargil War in 1999. Notably, Vijay Diwas is observed every year to pay tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives fighting against Pakistan in Kargil and commemorates the country’s victory in the war. 

Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina wrote on X, “On #KargilVijayDiwas, let’s honor the brave soldiers who fought with unwavering courage and determination. Their sacrifice reminds us of the true cost of freedom. Let’s remember their valor and pledge to uphold the values they defended. Jai Hind!” 

Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar wrote, “On Kargil Vijay Diwas - saluting our heroes in the Defence Forces for their countless acts of courage and sacrifice to keep us safe. We thank you, soldiers, for the peace in our lives.”
