Former India captain and cricketing stalwart Sourav Ganguly believes that Team India can beat Australia and win the WTC final in June 2023. Ganguly cited India’s series at home and in Australia against the Aussies as his justification for possible victory for Rohit Sharma’s men at the Oval.

The Indian team registered their fourth consecutive Border-Gavaskar Trophy series win after both teams played out a draw at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After incredible batting performances by Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green, India retaliated with a gritty batting display thanks to tons by Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill.

Reacting to this performance, Ganguly while talking to Rev Sportz said, “Firstly, let me congratulate India for beating Australia. There is no reason why India can’t beat Australia in England when they have done so in Australia and India already. Batting will be India’s key in England. If you score 350-400, you will win.”

Further in the interview, the Prince of Kolkata had some praiseful words for Gill, one of India’s most talented batters. The Chandigarh-born star scored his first Test century in India as he put up 128 in 235 balls with 12 fours and one six. Complimenting Gill, Ganguly spoke about how the 23-year-old has been in incredible form over the last 6-7 months and has done enough to find a place in the Indian team.

The former Indian captain also called the Gujarat Titans' player a permanent member of the team with his past performances. “Shubman has been phenomenal in the last 6-7 months. What else does he need to do? He is now a permanent member of the team,” Sourav Ganguly told RevSportz in Kolkata during Delhi Capitals’ pre-IPL 2023 camp.
