After a non-stop action in white-ball cricket from the last few months, the Indian cricket team has a long Test season ahead which will start with a two-match Test series against Bangladesh starting on September 19. This will be followed by three Test matches against and five Test in the Border-Gavaskar trophy in Australia. The upcoming Test season will be monumental in deciding India’s chances to reach the World Test championship final next year. Recently, former India batter Sunil Gavaskar warned Indian team and said that the side should come up with full preparation.
India are almost unbeatable in Test matches at their own backyard. They haven’t lost a Test series at home since 2012 and will be favorites to win the upcoming two Test matches against Bangladesh. However, a team like Bangladesh can also not be taken lightly. The Bengal Tigers are coming after crushing Pakistan by 2-0 in a Test series. This was the first time Bangladesh won a Test series against Pakistan that too at their own backyard.
They (Bangladesh) are primed to take on India: Sunil Gavaskar
Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar also said that Bangladesh have proved themselves to be a force to reckon with and India should come with a proper game plan against them. Bangladesh also gave a tough fight to India when they last toured Bangladesh in 2022 in for two Test matches.
“By beating Pakistan in both the Test matches played in Pakistan, the Bangladesh team have shown that they are a force to reckon with. Even a couple of years back, when India toured Bangladesh, they were given a good fight by the Bangladeshis. Now with the series win against Pakistan under their belt, they are primed to take on India too,” Sunil Gavaskar was quoted as saying by NDTV Sports.
“They have some fine players in their ranks and some new promising players who no longer have the awe of the opposition that seemed to characterise their early forays into the international game. Now, every team that play them know they can't put their guard down as they could be knocked down as the Pakistanis found out. It will certainly be a series to look forward to,” he further added.
