Indian women’s cricket team is currently having some off days as the side gears up for the Asian Games, set to take place in September - October this year in Hangzhou, China. While Smriti Mandhana is plying her trade in the ongoing The Hundred Women’s tournament, other cricketers are practicing at their home turf seeing the marquee event ahead.

 

Additionally, s portspersons and athletes have lately expressed their concerns at the airports. Earlier Manika Batra was a victim of it, this time it was Indian cricketer Shafali Verma. Verma, who was last seen during India Women’s tour of Bangladesh was travelling from Delhi to Varanasi and was denied entry at the airport.

 

The 19-year-old took to Twitter to express her concern to regarding the same, and even slammed the airlines she was travelling with. “Delhi to Varanasi: I came 25mins before the departure time and we requested a lot, still I was denied entry. The staff’s behaviour was very rude. #indigo this wasn’t a good experience,” Verma wrote in a tweet.

 

India Women to next appear in 19th Asian Games

 

The Women in Blue will next feature in the upcoming Asian Games. The Women’s Selection Committee has picked India’s squad for the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 to be held from 19th September to 8th October 2023 at Zhejiang University of Technology Pingfeng Cricket Field. The women’s cricket competition will take place from 19th-28th September 2023 in a T20 format.
