3. Shardul Thakur:
Indian team already had four pacers in the squad namely Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, and Mohammed Shami respectively thus there wasn't any necessity to include another pacer in the form of Shardul Thakur. Thakur has been too expensive with the ball and hence the decision to include him just for strengthening the batting at the lower order doesn't make much sense.
