South African Rassie van der Dussen has been one of the top players in world cricket among the crop of future stars. He has proven his batting abilities in his short career so far as he became the third-fastest batter to reach 1000 runs in world cricket and joined the likes of Sir Vivian Richards, Kevin Pietersen, Babar Azam etc. Similarly, he hasn't got out on a duck yet in his One-day international career.

These impressive records in such a short time had pushed Rassie van der Dussen's stock in IPL Mega Auction as he was picked up by the one-time champions Rajasthan Royals for the price of Rs 1 crore. Recently via an Instagram post, he opened up about how playing in the IPL was one of his biggest dreams and with the Rajasthan Royals, he has a chance to live them.

The post said, "To play in the IPL has always been a dream of mine. Watching over the years as legendary players made their mark on one of the biggest stages in world sport, I was, and continue to be inspired. This year @rajasthanroyals have given me the chance to make my own mark. The challenge to follow in the footsteps of greats awaits. Let's go!"

Huge RR Fan Boy!

After he was picked in the auction, he talked about how was a massive fan of the Rajasthan Royals since the first season because of the South African captain Graeme Smith who played there. Dussen expressed, "It feels good to be acknowledged, and I’ve always been a Rajasthan Royals fan since the early days of the IPL when the likes of Graeme Smith played there," he stated.

Rassie Van Der Dussen also was quoted saying that he was ready to showcase his skill for his new team. "It’s a team I’ve always followed; I’m very happy to be representing the franchise, and it’s an exciting prospect for me," he added.

"It’s been a long time coming and having started my career as an opener, my game required some evolution. I feel like I’m at a stage of my career where I’ve got most aspects of my game covered from a versatility perspective," he further said.
