The Day 5 at Tokyo Olympics 2020 proved to be one of the best days for Indian contingent in the first week of the tournament. It was a day dominated by Indian women athletes as Deepika Kumari and Pooja Rani secured crucial wins for the nation, keeping the hopes of a medal alive in archery and boxing respectively. Talking about badminton, PV Sindhu continued her impressive start in Tokyo to cruise to Round of 16 with another emphatic win.

Although the women's hockey team and male archers disappointed on Day 5, it was a mixed day for India but something that fans would take considering how things have panned out in last few days. Here is how all the results for Indian contingent unfolded on Wednesday:

Deepika Kumari (India) defeated Karma (Bhutan) by 6-0 in 1/32 Eliminations

She won the match by 26-23, 26-23, 27-24

Deepika Kumari (India) defeated Jennifer Mucino-Fernandez (USA) by 6-4 in 1/16 Eliminations

She won the match by 25-26, 28-25, 27-25, 24-25, 26-25

Archery - Men's Individual

Pravin Jadhav (India) defeated Galsan Bazarzhapov (ROC) by 6-0 in 1/32 Eliminations

Pravin Jadhav (India) lost to Brady Ellison (USA) by 0-6 in 1/16 Eliminations

Tarundeep Rai (India) defeated Oleksii Hunbin (Ukraine) by 6-4 in 1/32 Eliminations

Tarundeep Rai (India) lost to Brady Ellison (USA) by 0-6 in 1/16 Eliminations

Badminton - Women's Singles Group J

PV Sindhu (India) defeated Cheung Ngan Yi (Hong Kong) by 21-9, 21-16. She qualifies for Round of 16 where she will play against Denmark's Mia Blichfeldt tomorrow.

Badminton - Men's Singles Group D

Sai Praneeth (India) lost to Mark Caljouw (Netherlands) by 14-21, 14-21 and bowed out of the event in Tokyo.

Boxing - Women's Middleweight Round of 16

Pooja Raina (India) defeated Ichrak Chaib (Algeria) and sealed her spot in quarter-finals, which will be played on July 30.

Hockey - Women's Pool A

India lost to Great Britain by 1-4 to suffer their third consecutive defeat of the event. However, the Women in Blue still have an outside chance of qualifying for the next round if they can win their last two matches against Ireland and South Africa.

Rowing - Men's Lightweight Double Sculls Semi-finals

India (Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh) finished at 6th spot with timing of 6:24.41 to go out of medal contention.

Sailing - 49er Opening Series

Race 2 - Varun Thakkar/K. C. Ganapathy (India) -18th position
