It was a moment to cherish when India’s two gold-medalist Olympians met on Wednesday evening. Neeraj Chopra, who won the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics met Abhinav Bindra, India’s gold medalist from the 2008 Beijing Olympics, at the latter’s residence. Chopra and Bindra posed for a picture with their medals while Neeraj received a special gift from Bindra - a puppy named ‘Tokyo’.

Neeraj Chopra took to Twitter to share the pictures of his meeting with Abhinav Bindra and his family as well as a picture with his new puppy. “Took my Olympic medal to meet its elder sibling from Beijing today. Thank you @Abhinav_Bindra sir for your family's warm hospitality and for 'Tokyo' who I will cherish forever!” wrote Chopra on Twitter.

Have a look at it here:

Neeraj Chopra has been quite busy with endorsements and felicitation ceremonies ever since he returned from Tokyo that he even fell ill and had to opt-out of Diamond League. The ace javelin thrower had said that due to a jam-packed travelling schedule and a bout of illness, he has decided to cut short his 2021 campaign and prepare for the season ahead.

Hope that Tokyo will be a supportive friend: Abhinav Bindra

Abhinav Bindra also shared a picture of him gifting Tokyo to Neeraj Chopra and wrote “Was a pleasure to meet and interact with India’s golden man @Neeraj_chopra1! I hope that “Tokyo” will be a supportive friend and motivate you to get a sibling named Paris for him in 2024 !”.

Abhinav Bindra had shared a congratulatory message for Neeraj Chopra when the latter clinched the top spot in the javelin throw final in Tokyo. Chopra became the second individual to win a gold medal for India after Abhinav Bindra. Bindra had earlier penned a note in which he had acknowledged Chopra’s efforts and had said “welcome you to the club. It is not the most of happening of places yet and needs more members, but I feel your entry is going to pave the way for many deserving athletes”.
