Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the former Indian Premier League (IPL) champions, reached the final of the 2024 edition of the tournament, where they ended up on the losing side. Following a tough end to the last season under Pat Cummins’ captaincy, the SRH team management bolstered their squad further by bringing in more experience, especially in the bowling side of things, while managing to keep most of the core intact.
In this article, SportsTiger looks at the five top bowlers in the SRH squad for the IPL 2025 season.
List of top 5 bowlers in SRH IPL 2025 squad
Pat Cummins
Pat Cummins, one of the modern day cricket greats, signed for SRH before the 2024 season, and his captaincy and bowling skills helped propel them to the final of the tournament. The right-arm pacer used himself in all phases of the game with the ball in hand, bowling the tough overs against some of the best T20 batters going around in the IPL, and came out on top on most occasions, which SRH will need in the 2025 season as well.
Harshal Patel
One of the biggest acquisitions in the mega auction ahead of the IPL 2025 season from the SRH management was Harshal Patel, the right-arm fast bowler, who won the Purple Cap last season with Punjab Kings (PBKS), taking 24 wickets in 14 matches. The 33-year-old is a two-time Purple Cap winner, winning the coveted award for the first-time in the 2021 season with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), taking 32 wickets in 15 matches, and his experience could prove to be vital for SRH in the upcoming season.
Adam Zampa
Australia’s leg spin mainstay Adam Zampa hasn’t played much IPL cricket throughout his illustrious career, 20 matches to be exact after making his debut in the competition way back in 2016. But still, he brings a lot of value to any side. After playing for Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and Rajasthan Royals (RR), SRH will be the fourth IPL team for Adam Zampa, and he will be looking to do wonders for the franchise under fellow Australian Pat Cummins.
Jaydev Unadkat
Jaydev Unadkat has accumulated wealth of experience in IPL cricket after debuting in the 2009 season, and he is currently in his eighth franchise in the league, taking 99 wickets in 105 matches. His best season came with RPS in the year 2017, picking up a whopping 24 wickets in 12 matches for them, while his eight wickets in 11 matches in 2024 for SRH were vital in helping the franchise reach the final.
Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami’s IPL career has two distinct phases, wherein the first one from 2013 to 2018 with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) had him take just 21 wickets in 35 matches, but then, in the second one from 2019 to 2023, he picked up 106 wickets in just 75 matches for Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Gujarat Titans (GT). After missing out on the 2024 season of the IPL due to injury, the right-arm fast bowler will be looking to make amends with his new franchise SRH in the 2025 season.
