Delhi Capitals continued their scintillating run in IPL 2021 as they absolutely thrashed Punjab Kings in Ahmedabad on Sunday. It was a perfect performance by Rishabh Pant's side as they completely dominated the opponents in all departments.
The problems started for Punjab Kings way before the match began with their leading run-scorer and skipper KL Rahul getting ruled out of the contest due to health issues. However, the fans were thrilled to see the stand-in captain Mayank Agarwal step up and play a similar knock like Rahul to take his side to a competitive total of 166/6 in 20 overs, despite his injury.

The stylish player went on to play an unbeaten knock of 99 runs in 58 deliveries, which is the second highest ever score for a player on captaincy debut. However, it was a horror display of batting once again from the other Punjab batsmen as they kept on losing wicket on a regular basis at the other end. However, the fans did have something to cherish about as Dawid Malan finally got an opportunity ahead of Nicholas Pooran although the Englishman could only manage to score 26 runs.
In reply, DC openers once against started in an explosive fashion as Prithvi Shaw played a fiery cameo of 39 runs off 22 deliveries. Shikhar Dhawan continued his scintillating form and his unbeaten 69-run knock was enough to secure an easy win for Delhi as they hunted down the target in 17.4 overs, with 7 wickets in hand.
