In an unprecedented moment for European football, 12 of Europe’s top clubs announced breakaway European Super League, a new mid-week competition by the founding clubs of England, Spain and Italy. The 12 founding clubs include - 6 teams of Premier League namely Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, along with teams from Spain including Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona. It also has three teams of Italy - Juventus, Inter Milan, AC Milan. Three more clubs are expected to join which will commence ‘as soon as practicable’ with Florentino Perez, President of Real Madrid the man behind this and the first chairman of the League. Reacting to this UEFA, European football’s governing body warned clubs linked to the breakaway Super League that they will face domestic and international ban, if they set up a rival to the existing Champions League.

Checkout how fans and sports experts from all over the world reacted to this Super League news:

The world is reacting to this news with rage and fans are furious about this decision.

Some also find this move to be extremely embarrassing for the football world, given the reputation the founding clubs hold.

On the other hand, others are mocking some of the founding clubs to not be able to perform in their domestic and international league, yet laying the foundations of a new one.
