The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is known to be the richest cricketing body in the world. Year after year its reputation and infrastructure keeps on getting better and better which is the main reason behind the growth of the sport in the country. However, despite having enormous resources at its disposal, the Indian cricket board is often accused of not doing much for the betterment of women's cricket.

While there has been the Women's T20 Challenge competition, it largely remains a three-team affair with just a handful of being matches played, nothing in compared to the men's Indian Premier League which runs close to two months with eight teams competing in the shortest format of the game.

The Board announced the central contracts for the women cricketers on Wednesday after it had already made public the contracts of the men cricketers last month. And netizens couldn't help but outline the gulf between the wages of the men's and women's cricketers- both of whom are playing at the highest level.
