The 'Gypsy King' Tyson Fury has called off his ‘Battle of Britain’ bout against fellow countryman Anthony Joshua in December after his self-imposed deadline expired. Fury had challenged Joshua for a title fight earlier this month, saying he would come out of retirement. The 2012 Olympic gold medallist had agreed to the fight, scheduled for 3 December.

Joshua’s 258 Management and promoter Matchroom Boxing expressed that they had, “accepted all terms presented to us by Fury’s team” but agreed to pause all discussions because of the death of Queen Elizabeth II. But, Fury took to Instagram as he revealed the news about the cancellation of the match.

"Well guys, it's official. D-day has come and gone. It's gone past five o'clock, Monday. No contract has been signed," Fury said. “It's officially over for Joshua. He is now out in the cold with the wolfpack. Forget about it. Always knew you didn't have the minerals to fight the 'Gypsy King'. Regardless of what you say now, I don't really care. Good luck with your career, and your life. End of. Peace out."

But ahead of Fury’s announcement, boxing promoter Eddie Hearn had expressed that there is "no chance" the contract for the world title fight between the Gypsy King and Anthony Joshua will be signed.  However, Hearn revealed that his team was verifying the contract and claiming it was "all over the place" after waiting nine days to receive it.

Hearn said, "If he doesn't [want to fight Joshua], and I guess he doesn't, then he'll do what he'll do and the fans might even fall for it," Hearn said. "But what I am seeing, the fans aren't falling for it. We have a meeting on Monday, with DAZN, with BT, with everybody but it's going to take time. If he wants to put a time frame of Monday on it then it's clear to the whole public he doesn't want the fight. It's not getting signed on Monday so if he is walking away on Monday the fight is off,” he further added.
