As the 2022-23 European football season has commenced, all football fans are waiting with bated breath for the brand new season of the UEFA Champions League. The competition will get underway on Tuesday. As many as 10 fixtures are lined up on matchday 1 with Manchester City's fixture against Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain's face-off with Juventus headlining the day.
In addition, defending champions Real Madrid will take on reigning Scottish Premiership champions Celtic in a Group F fixture. Dinamo Zagreb vs Chelsea, Dortmund vs Copenhagen, FC Salzburg vs AC Milan, RB Leipzig vs Shakhtar Donetsk, Benfica vs Maccabi Haifa FC, Ajax vs Rangers and Frankfurt vs Sporting CP complete the matches scheduled on Day 1.
Overall a total of 32 teams from across Europe's top-tier league will hope to proceed to the next round of the competition. Each team in a group will get to compete with every other team at home and away and the top two placed teams in each group will make it to the knockout round.
