Tony Ferguson is all set to lock horns in the co-main event of UFC 262 against the lightweight division’s most emerging fighter, Beneil Dariush. While the latter is looking to stamp his claim for a title shot by extending his winning streak to seven, Ferguson is looking for redemption after being 0-2. This had led former UFC fighter, Eddie Alvarez to reason out why Dariush will beat Tony Ferguson.
Eddie Alvarez pointed out that UFC veteran, Tony Ferguson is in a habit of making a lot of mistakes, especially while fighting among the top fighters. While there is a huge chunk of fans who proclaim Ferguson will only be a stepping stone for Dariush, there are others who speculate Tony Ferguson to bounce back after a much-needed victory.
What did Eddie Alvarez say about Tony Ferguson?
In an episode of MMA Pros Pick, Eddie Alvarez revealed why he backs Beneil Dariush to beat Tony Ferguson.
“When he went on the streak that he did, being undefeated, I was like, 'Holy crap, man!' because I never thought really highly of Tony but he goes out there and he understands how to win,” he added.
“I think he makes a lot of mistakes. So, at the top, when he's fighting guys in the top five, when you're in the top five there's a really small margin for error. You can't make mistakes; he makes too many mistakes to compete for a long time in the top five", Alvarez concluded.
