With the T20 World Cup 2024 just some months away from the start, the Uganda Cricket Association has revealed their brand new jersey for the marquee event. Uganda’s men's cricket team became the 20th and final team to qualify for the tournament, leapfrogging the likes of Zimbabwe and Kenya. 

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Uganda Cricket Association announced the winner of the jersey designing competition along with unveiling the newly designed kit, which draws inspiration from cranes. “Unveiling the winning World Cup Jersey Design Competition Winner. The design was crafted by Mangeni Elijah,” the cricket board captioned the post on X.

Furthermore, in the tweet, the board also explained the kit adding that “the ‘Cricket Cranes’ kit - where elegance meets strength, mirroring Uganda’s resilient spirit.”  Explaining the design of the kit, designed by Mangeni Elijah, the board revealed, “The bold blend of vibrant colors symbolizes unity, echoing the national pride. The jersey, with its feather-inspired patters, pays homage to the majestic, crested crane, capturing the essence of grace and power.”  

Uganda’s T20 World Cup 2024 schedule

Uganda, who will be making their maiden ICC T20 World Cup appearance, are placed in Group C of the marquee tournament. They are placed alongside New Zealand, Afghanistan, co-hosts West Indies and the Papua New Guinea (PNG). The Brian Msaba-led side will begin their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign on June 3 against Afghanistan in Guyana. They will then play PNG (June 5), West Indies (June 8 and New Zealand (June 14) respectively. 

June 3: Uganda vs Afghanistan, Guyana

June 5: Uganda vs Papua New Guinea, Guyana

June 8: Uganda vs West Indies, Guyana

June 14: Uganda vs New Zealand, Trinidad
