Ahead of the much awaited England tour of Indian cricketers, the UK government has given a big relief to the Men in Blue. The Indian cricketers will be leaving for the side on June 2 after undergoing a hard quarantine in Mumbai.
Big boost for Indian cricketers
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has successfully managed to negotiate relaxation of norms on Team India’s tour of England. The No. 1 Test team is all set to travel to UK for the World Test Championship, which is scheduled to start on June 18, followed by England series. The Men in Blue will assemble and undergo a mandatory quarantine from May 24, before they leave for the UK on June 2.
The Indian contingent will follow hard quarantine from June 3 in Southampton ahead of their WTC final against New Zealand starting June 18.
Wriddhiman Saha tests negative for COVID-19
In a recent development, Team India have received a big relief as their wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha, who had earlier contracted the virus, has finally tested negative. Saha was in quarantine for almost 17 days, after re-testing positive for COVID. But his recent reports confirmed him negative for the virus, which allows him to join the Indian squad in Mumbai ahead of their tour.
