Ukraine is going through a military crisis as the European nation is at war with neighbouring country Russia. After days of heated exchanges, Russia ordered a military invasion on Thursday. Ukraine also reiterated with required military actions as people continued to suffer. With so much going on in the country, it is difficult for Ukrainians living away to carry on with their usual schedule.
The emotions are right there from everyone as they are trying to stand in solidarity with their home country. Ukraine's international footballer Roman Yaremchuk also showed support for his country and exhibited great patriotism far from his homeland. In the UEFA Champions League game between his club Benfica and Ajax on Wednesday night, Yaremchuk removed his shirt to display his nation’s coat of arms after scoring a goal.
The footballer also shared a post after the match talking about his act on the field and reckoned 'this is the time to unite'. He shared his pictures from the game and wrote a long caption showing support for his native country. "I am Ukrainian and I am proud of that. Being thousands of kilometres away from my native country, I want to support everyone who is now in tension in their native land, now is the time to unite. This is our country, our history, our culture, our people and our borders. I would like to thank our defenders for their courage. Glory to Ukraine??????," wrote Yaremchuk on Instagram.
Fans praise his act
The footballer's act also caught the eyes of fans from around the globe. He recovers immense praise for his actions on the field.
"Roman Yaremchuk ??????. He just HAD to score tonight! What a celebration too! Exceeding many Ukrainian expectations ACTIONS speak louder than words," wrote a user in praise of Yaremchuk on Twitter.
