The United World Wrestling (UWW) has indefinitely suspended the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) after the federation's failure to conduct the necessary elections. The WFI has been amidst a series of controversies, causing the constant postponement of elections.
India's wrestling governing body was scheduled to hold elections in June 2023. However, the elections were repeatedly postponed after a series of protests by Indian wrestlers against former president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and legal petitions from various state units.
