MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings defeated defending champions Gujarat Titans by 15 runs in the IPL 2023 Qualifier 1 on Tuesday at the Chepauk Stadium. CSK all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja displayed tremendous performance with both bat and ball and received the Most Valuable Asset of the Match award. However, the CSK all-rounder came up with a hilarious dig aimed at his critics after winning the award for his match-winning performance.
Ravindra Jadeja scored 22 off 16 balls to guide Chennai to a decent total of 172 runs while batting first and ended the game as the most economical bowler of the match with two wickets in four overs and gave away just 18 runs. Although Jadeja scored under 30 runs, his knock came at a crucial moment when wickets kept falling for the Super Kings on a tricky Chennai surface.
After winning the match, Chennai qualified for the IPL 2023 final as opener Ruturaj Gaikwad won the Player of the Match award while Ravindra Jadeja was named the Most Valuable Player. After winning the award, the CSK all-rounder hit back at his critics with a hilarious social media post, where he posted his award-winning picture and captioned, "Upstox knows but..some fans don’t 🤣🤣"
With their comfortable win against GT on Tuesday, CSK qualified for the IPL 2023 final, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 28 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. On the other hand, Gujarat Titans will face the winners of the Eliminator round played between five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday in Chennai. The Qualifier 2 will be played in Ahmedabad on Friday, May 26.
