Victor Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray, is reportedly looking for a move to the Premier League in the upcoming summer transfer window. The 26-year-old striker had moved to the Turkish league on a loan deal after four successful seasons at Napoli because his contract extensions talks with the club failed to materialise.
Osimhen has had an equally successful season at Galatasaray as well having scored 28 goals and provided six assists over 32 games so far. His team also seems to be enroute to winning the Turkish League this season as they are currently enjoying a 3-point lead at the top of the table.
Osimhen has proven his influence previously as well when he was instrumental in Napoli’s Serie A title charge in the 2022-23 season. His stint at Napoli was a complete goal galore with the Nigerian striker boasting a 92G/A record across four seasons. His sheer quality and age mean that he will be a very sought after player in the upcoming transfer window with many clubs looking for replacements in the no. 9 position. The rumoured favourites to sign Osimhen are Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal.
We need Osimhen: Rio Ferdinand talks about the need to get high-quality striker at Man Utd
Ex-Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand recently spoke about the Red Devils possible pursuit of Victor Osimhen on a podcast and said that he is the one signing that United should definitely look to make in the summer. Recognizing the forward’s quality and goal-scoring nature, Ferdinand said, “We need Osimhen, we need experience, we need someone who knows how to score, we need someone who can come and show these young strikers at Man Utd how to do it.”
United have had a season full of struggle as they are currently placed 13th in the Premier League and recently came off a goal-less Manchester derby. Next season would mark the first full season under new manager Ruben Amorim and it would be interesting to see what changes does the Portuguese make at the club.
