India made an exit from the T20 World Cup 2022 after losing to England in the semifinals. Unlike last year, India played good cricket this year and one of the main reasons behind it was Hardik Pandya being fully fit and in form. Things could have been better for India this year if the team had a few more quality all-rounders like Pandya.
There have been quite a few names that have been touted as the next Hardik Pandya. Venkatesh Iyer was in the scheme of things for a few games but he faded away after a couple of poor performances. Although Pandya is fully fit and available at the moment and is also being touted as India’s next T20I captain, the team needs more such multi-dimensional players.
Pandya himself said that batters will have to chip in with the ball frequently to maintain that balance. But the limitation to that option is that India will have to settle with spinners. So, to fill that void for a fast-bowling all-rounder, the management will have to turn to domestic cricket. Jammu and Kashmir are showing some promise in terms of producing quality players.
After Umran Malik and Abdul Samad, there is another sensational talent emerging from the state, Auqib Nabi. And he can be the next Hardik Pandya if groomed properly. Videos of the J&K all-rounder are doing the rounds on the internet. The fast-bowling all-rounder is seen making stumps fly and also smashing massive sixes.
A Twitter user shared the montage with the caption, “To all #IPL franchises: if you want a fast-bowling all-rounder, Auqib Nabi from J&K is the best you could get! He swings the new ball, can hit the deck hard, and bowl those cutters, bouncers and yorkers! And with the bat, he can hit a long ball! Here’s a glimpse of him.”
Users also reacted to the video saying he can indeed be a good prospect.
