Arsenal is reported to have a very busy summer transfer window with several incomings as well as outgoings expected to take place for the Gunners. After losing out on the Premier League title once again along with a crash out from the Champions League semi-finals at the hands of PSG, Mikel Arteta is expected to bring in a lot of string profiles to strengthen the squad and fight for titles next season. One particular position that Arteta is expected to bolster very soon is the centre-forward position. Arsenal has faced some worrying circumstances in the current season when a lot of their primary attacking players were out injured including Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, and Kai Havertz.
Arteta was forced to play players like Mikel Merino out of position and it reflected upon Arsenal’s poor squad depth in those positions. In order to fix that, Arsenal reportedly have their eyes strongly upon two hot prospects in Europe, namely Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko. Gyokeres has almost been a revelation this season with his goal-scoring stats being beyond imaginable. Currently, the Swedish goal machine already has 52 goals in 50 games for Sporting CF.
Sporting have set €70 million asking price for in-demand Viktor Gyokeres: Reports
With his monumental rise this season, it is expected that Gyokeres will move to one of top clubs across Europe, with a lot of Premier League teams emerging as strong suitors. Arsenal in particular are in a strong financial position to sign the 26-year-old striker as Sporting have reportedly put an asking price of €60-70 million for him. Alongside him is Benjamin Sesko, who has been a long-time target for the Gunners.
His fabulous spell in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig has also put out a strong case for him to compete with Gyokeres to become Arsenal’s summer signing. Over the two season Sesko has played at Leipzig, he has amassed 47 goal contributions and his slightly lower price-tag as compared to Viktor Gyokeres could be the decisive factor for Arsenal to sign him.
