Romanian cricketer Pavel Florin is trying to pull off something we cricket fans have often dreamt about as he has nominated himself for the inaugural BBL Draft. The 43-year-old became a viral star three years ago when a clip of his peculiar bowling action went viral.

Pavel Florin is a right-arm-off break bowler who enjoys bowling tall, flighted deliveries which seem easy to hit but are often misjudged by the batters. The Romanian also has a funny run-up, which is followed by him replicating the Statue of Liberty pose as the ball glides out of his hand like an uncontrolled kite.

Before playing cricket, Pavel Florin was a nightclub bouncer and in 2019, he blasted on the internet, portraying his love of the game. This passion for cricket brought on the likes of Shane Warne and Jofra Archer to send messages of support to the Transylvanian.

After Florian got the confirmation email from the Big Bash League, he tweeted a screenshot and wrote, "Nothing is impossible!". Florin added in another tweet, "Maybe many people see me as a weak player but in my head, I am the best player. You know why? Because I do what I like and I love what I do ... cricket."

The Big Bash League was also excited about Florin’s participation in the tournament and believes that the tall Romanian is an inspiration for those who love the game and would go above and beyond for cricket.

While speaking to the Daily Telegraph, BBL boss Alistair Dobson said, “I was pretty excited to see Pavel’s email land in my inbox. Pavel said he was inspired by a love of the game and to show everyone that regardless of their abilities, that they can believe in their chance. We’d love to get him involved in the BBL somehow this summer if we can.”
