India pacer Mohammed Siraj might have missed out on getting a place in the Playing XI of the ICC World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand at Southampton but remains a vital member of the team and somebody who has impressed the management with his worth ethic and consistency. The Hyderabad bowler shares a good bond with skipper Virat Kohli and even plays under his captaincy at the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

In an interesting revelation, Siraj revealed how Virat played a prank when he invited him to have dinner at home. Siraj said although Kohli had initially agreed to the invitation, he later complained of a stiff back and said that he wouldn’t be able to come but turned up on time.

I did get a little upset, reveals Siraj

“I asked Virat Kohli Bhai for dinner at my home, he was very gracious & accepted the invitation. The moment we landed, Virat bhai said he had a stiff back, so they won't come. I did get a little upset, but he came and I hugged him when I saw him there, that was surreal too,” Siraj told Cricbuzz.

Meanwhile, Indian bowlers haven’t been as effective as their Kiwi counterparts so far in the rain-affected summit clash. While Ishant Sharma has picked up a wicket, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami haven’t yet hit the right length as often as they would have liked. Consequently, New Zealand are 101/2, trailing India's first innings score by 116 on Day 5 with the reserve day setting in tomorrow.
