Virat Kohli becomes the first and only cricketer to cross 50 million followers across all three social media handles

Apart from his on-field heroics, Indian cricket stalwart Virat Kohli enjoys a huge fan following on social media. The fans wait for Kohli’s posts in anticipation, irrespective of whether he provides an update with photos/videos alongside Indian players or his personal life as well.

In a recent, Kohli emerged as the top-scorer in T20 World Cup 2022 with 296 runs in six innings. His best knock of 82* off 53 balls against Pakistan was arguably his best T20I knock to date. This knock certainly enhanced the reach and reactions on all his social media handles.

The 34-year-old recently created history when he crossed 50 million followers on all social media platforms, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. He became the first and only cricketer to claim this milestone when he clocked 50 million followers on Facebook. In terms of Instagram following, Ronaldo tops the list with 505 million followers, while Messi comes second with 381 million fans. Then, after Kohli, Neymar Jr ranks fourth with 187 million families.

The love for sport certainly has kept the fans hooked to their social media handles, with them marking their presence at the top spots on social media. The platforms also pay hefty fees to these stars for publishing posts and creating huge engagement.

Coming back to Kohli, the star cricketer, who is currently on rest will return to action in the Bangladesh series. The tour is slated to be played from December 4 to 26 and will comprise 3 ODIs and 2 Tests. The crucial World Test Championship (WTC) points will be up for grabs for the Indian team to stake their claim for the top spots and feature in the final next year.
