It was on 20 June 2011 when Virat Kohli first walked in India whites. Ever since then, Kohli has evolved drastically and has now become the torch bearer in the red-ball format. In between these 11 years, the batter from Delhi has seen many highs and as many lows but his passion for the game has remained the same. Kohli’s energy on the field is unmatchable and that is what separates him from others.
After debuting as a dynamic batter, Virat Kohli went on to become the captain of the country in Test cricket. He took the captaincy baton from MS Dhoni who was renowned as one of the best in business. But not only did Kohli take over the reins but he changed the way India approached Test cricket. He also overshadowed the former skipper and took India to the top from being No.7. Under Virat Kohli, India remained the No.1 Test team for five consecutive years (from 2016 to 2020).
Not only this, but Virat Kohli also finished as India’s most successful Test skipper with 40 wins in 68 Tests after he decided to relieve himself from captaincy duties earlier this year. Now, the 33-year-old is back as a player in the longest format and he looks really proud of it. As Kohli completed 11 years in Test cricket, he shared a montage celebrating his achievements in the red-ball format with the caption “Time flies”.

Only a few to play 100 Tests
Time and again, Virat Kohli has expressed his love for playing the longest format of the game. Whenever he has got a chance, Kohli has prioritized Test cricket. This love for the oldest format of the game also helped Kohli get included in an elite list of players to have represented India in 100 or more Tests. Earlier this year, in March, Virat Kohli became only the 12th Indian cricketer to play 100 or more Tests. He joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Sourav Ganguly, Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, and others when he took the field against South Africa.
