RCB skipper Virat Kohli played his last match as the captain of the franchise yesterday, where unfortunately the team got knocked out of IPL 2021 in the Eliminator against KKR. Earlier this year, before the commencement of the second leg of IPL 2021, Virat Kohli made the shocking announcement to step down from captaincy at the end of this season. This shook the fans and the cricketing world at large and they hoped that the RCB skipper wins his maiden IPL trophy. However, the hopes crashed as RCB got defeated in the Eliminator and crushed down the chances of lifting the maiden title.

We might be disappointed today, but no one looks broken: Kohli

Having suffered a heartbreaking loss, Virat Kohli addressed the team in the dressing room in a heartfelt speech. Kohli expressed that this was the most exciting season after 2016 for him and they enjoyed thoroughly as a unit. Kohli further went on to thank the team management for having faith in him all these years as a captain of RCB and stated that he’ll continue to play for Bangalore till his last IPL game.

“We all have worked very hard to achieve that. Yes we might be disappointed today, but no one looks broken. We are all disappointed but we are very proud of the way we have played as well, which I think is something we have always tried to create in this franchise,” Kohli mentioned.

"Tried the best I could,” says Virat Kohli

The RCB skipper further expressed that he had given it all for the franchise as the captain and will continue to do the same as a player.  "Tried the best I could. I will continue to give everything that I have for this franchise always and still be a leader around the group, but not the one making all the decision,” the RCB skipper mentioned.

He further reassured the players that stepping down from captaincy doesn’t mean that he will not play a leadership role in the team. The 32-year-old was optimistic about new players joining the franchise and taking it to even greater heights in the coming edition.

Kohli further went on to thank his RCB teammates for a memorable campaign and hailed that their friendship and bond is something that won’t end after the season.

"I want to thank all of you for making this campaign very memorable. I honestly feel that we have created friendship and camaraderie here which will last a long time. It's not something that ends after a season and I can sense it." he added.
