On Tuesday, June 3, history was etched as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally ended their 17-year-long trophy drought, beating Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad by six runs. With a win, RCB not only got their maiden IPL title, but the tournament also saw a new winner emerge after three years.

After being put to bat first, RCB posted a decent score on the board, 190/9 in their 20 overs. While Virat Kohli was the top run-scorer, scoring 43 off 35 balls, Mayank Agarwal, Rajat Patidar, Liam Livingstone, and Jitesh Sharma also chipped in with crucial runs. However, in PBKS’ run-chase, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Krunal Pandya’s brilliant spells helped RCB restrict their opponents.

RCB to host open bus parade in Bengaluru after maiden IPL title win

The win was more special for the RCB side as they had their legends in attendance, AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle. As the so called holy trinity of RCB, which also includes Virat Kohli along with the former cricketers were speaking on the sideline of the match, the man of the moment, Virat Kohli confirmed of a special celebration in Bengaluru.

The 36-year-old also confirmed that the Rajat Patidar-led franchise will host an open bus parade in Bengaluru on Wednesday, June 4. Moreover, Kohli also invited Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers to join their celebrations in Bengaluru.
