Earth has completed a revolution around the Sun; thus, we have a new year ahead of us. The whole world bid adieu to 2022 and is all geared up for 2023. Former India captain Virat Kohli also welcomed the new year as he shared a couple of pictures on his Instagram handle. Kohli shared photos with his better half and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma as the couple celebrate New Year in Dubai. Notably, the star batter is currently enjoying a break as India is gearing up to play a T20I series against Sri Lanka.
In the two pictures, the couple donned contrasting dresses. While Kohli was in all whites, Anushka Sharma donned a black dress. “❤️2023,” the Indian cricketer captioned the post.

Looking at the year 2022 from Kohli’s perspective, it was not the batter’s best year. However, it was good to a certain extent as the 34-year-old broke 1000+ days’ jinx to bring up his 71st century. Kohli hit an unbeaten 121* against Afghanistan in Asia Cup 2022. But apart from that, it was a year full of struggles for the Indian batter. He could not score a century in Tests.
In 11 innings of 6 matches, Kohli scored 265 runs at an average of 26.50. The batter managed to score only one half-century which came against South Africa. Kohli did not have great numbers in ODIs either. In 11 innings, the batter scored 302 runs at an average of 27.45. The 34-year-old scored one century and two half-centuries.
Meanwhile, in T20Is, Kohli amassed 781 runs at an average of 55.78. The batter scored eight half-centuries and one century. Now, with the new year, Kohli will hope to turn it around and pile up runs like he used to do.
