The game of cricket is a beautiful sport in itself. People across the globe follow it closely. Along with some thrilling action, the commentary describing the play makes it even better. To Indian fans, the game is sacred and so are the people associated with it. It’s not just the players but commentators who also get a lot of love in this cricket-loving nation.

No one can forget some of the iconic lines said on air. Ravi Shastri’s “Dhoni finishes off in style” (from the 2011 World Cup) and “Sreesanth takes it” (from the 2007 T20 World Cup) are still etched in the memories of the Indian cricket team fans. But sometimes, commentators forget that millions are listening to them and use words that could be avoided.

The latest example of the same came during the fifth rescheduled Test between India and England when Virender Sehwag went a tad ahead while talking about Virat Kohli and called the Indian batter “chhamiya” on air. Kohli who was celebrating Sam Billings’ wicket by dancing in the middle attracted the cameras on the ground.

The visuals of the Indian fielder dancing in the middle were shown. Aakash Chopra drew Sehwag’s attention to those visuals as he said “Virat Kohli ka dance dekhiye”. To this Virender Sehwag reacted and did not mind using some derogatory words. “Chhamiya naach rhi hai,” said Sehwag while commenting on Kohli’s dance.

Hindi commentary is woeful nowadays!

Twitter users also reacted to this viral video and criticized the former cricketer for his choice of words. A user also called up on the dipping level of Hindi commentary. “Hindi commentary is woeful nowadays . Some are cring and some don't have commentary language. Need more like jatin and gaurav kapoor,” wrote one user.

“Isilie professional commentators rakhna chahiye. Nai hume to ex cricketers ko lana hai,” wrote another.
