Wanindu Hasaranga was spotted getting emotional during his younger sister’s wedding, in a viral video circulated on social media. The 26-year-old could not hold back his tears when she went towards him to give a big hug. He also gave his younger sister a couple of forehead kisses before a man, who seemed his brother-in-law, joined in, to create a group hug in the presence of family and friends.
The viral video was shared by Nibraz Ramdan, a cricket writer, who goes by the handle @nibraz88cricket on Twitter. He captioned the 1:24 long clip, “Wanindu Hasaranga gets emotional during his younger sister getting married..”

Talking about the recent exploits on the cricket field from Wanindu Hasaranga, he was the chief architect in B-Love Kandy winning the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023, while becoming the top run scorer and highest wicket-taker. He amassed 279 runs in nine innings at an astounding strike-rate of 189.79, while picking up 19 wickets in 10 innings at an economy of 5.51 with a six-wicket haul.
Notably, Wanindu Hasaranga did miss the final of the LPL due to a thigh strain he picked up during the later stages of the tournament. While the absence of the 26-year-old didn’t matter much in the grand scheme of things for B-Love Kandy, the questions regarding his fitness with the Asia Cup 2023 on the horizon, have definitely come to the surface for Sri Lanka team management .
According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, Wanindu Hasaranga is unlikely to play in the group stage matches of the Asia Cup 2023 against Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Furthermore, his availability during the later stages of the tournament will depend on whether he can take part in the matches without risking any further injury, with an eye on the ODI World Cup in October and November.
